How scoring works in rummy
When a player goes out, everyone else counts the cards left in their hand: face cards are 10, number cards are worth their number and aces are 1 (or 15 in games where aces can be high). The player who went out scores the total of everyone else’s cards. Write it in that player’s column for the round and leave the others blank or 0.
Agree on a target before you start, often 100 or 500 points, and enter it as “Play to” on the scorer: the total turns green when someone reaches it.
Common scoring variations
- Penalty scoring: instead of the winner scoring, each other player writes down the points left in their own hand. Play to 100; the lowest total wins.
- Going rummy: if a player goes out in one turn without having melded before, the hand counts double (or earns a 10-point bonus, depending on house rules).
- 500 rum: each player scores the cards they melded minus the cards left in their hand, and the game is played to 500.
The sheet works for all of these: one column per player, one line per round.

Questions
How many players fit on the sheet?
The regular PDF has 6 player columns and 12 rounds per score sheet, two sheets per page. The large print PDF has 4 players and 14 rounds. On screen you can choose 2 to 6 players and add as many rounds as you need.
Can I enter negative scores?
Yes, type a minus sign before the number. That is useful for 500 rum, where cards left in hand count against you.
What is the best target score?
For a shorter game, play to 100 with the winner scoring. For a longer evening, play to 500.
Can I copy these sheets for a club or senior center?
Yes. They are free to print and copy for home, club, senior center and other non-commercial use.
