About this puzzle

Big, bold letters and fewer, longer words: an easier-on-the-eyes women of the bible word search. Twenty women from Genesis to Acts: Sarah and Rebekah, Miriam and Deborah, loyal Ruth and Naomi, Queen Esther, Mary and Martha, and Lydia the seller of purple. A word search for women’s Bible studies, ladies’ groups and anyone who loves these stories.

The large print edition uses an 11×11 grid that fills a letter-size page, and words only run across, down or diagonally down.

All 20 words in this theme: Eve, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Miriam, Deborah, Ruth, Naomi, Hannah, Esther, Mary, Martha, Leah, Abigail, Elizabeth, Phoebe, Lydia, Dorcas, Priscilla, Jochebed.

Talk about it

Questions to share while solving, for activity groups, memory care or a visit with family:

  • Which woman of the Bible do you admire most, and why?
  • Ruth said “whither thou goest, I will go.” Who has been that loyal to you?
  • Were you named after anyone from the Bible, or do you know someone who was?
  • Did your mother or grandmother have a favorite Bible verse?
  • Which of these women would you like to sit and talk with?

Activity tip: This puzzle suits a women’s Bible study or a ladies’ tea. Let each person pick one name they found and share one thing they remember about her story.

Questions

How big are the letters?

The grid fills most of a letter-size page, with letters about one and a half times the size of a regular (Medium) word search, and the word list is printed in large type too.

Are these suitable for memory care or activity groups?

Yes. Words only run left to right, top to bottom or diagonally down, so the puzzles are relaxing rather than tricky. Print as many copies as your group needs.

Is there a harder version?

Every theme also has a regular print edition with Easy, Medium and Hard levels.
