About this puzzle
Big, bold letters and fewer, longer words: an easier-on-the-eyes human body word search. From the skull to the toes: the heart that pumps blood through veins, the lungs that breathe, the brain and nerves that send messages, and the 206 bones of the skeleton held together by muscles. A human body word search for a health or anatomy lesson, with organs, bones and body systems.
The large print edition uses an 11×11 grid that fills a letter-size page, and words only run across, down or diagonally down.
All 20 words in this theme: Heart, Brain, Lungs, Skeleton, Muscle, Stomach, Blood, Bones, Skin, Kidney, Liver, Spine, Nerves, Ribs, Skull, Veins, Teeth, Intestine, Joints, Tendon.
Talk about it
Questions to share while solving, for activity groups, memory care or a visit with family:
- Did you ever break a bone? How did it happen?
- What do you do to stay healthy and active?
- Did you have a family doctor who visited your home?
- What is the most interesting thing you know about the human body?
- Did you play a sport when you were young?
Activity tip: Do a short seated stretch together before solving: roll the shoulders, turn the head gently, wiggle the fingers. Then find the words for the body parts you just moved.
Questions
How big are the letters?
The grid fills most of a letter-size page, with letters about one and a half times the size of a regular (Medium) word search, and the word list is printed in large type too.
Are these suitable for memory care or activity groups?
Yes. Words only run left to right, top to bottom or diagonally down, so the puzzles are relaxing rather than tricky. Print as many copies as your group needs.
Is there a harder version?
Every theme also has a regular print edition with Easy, Medium and Hard levels.
