About this puzzle
A respectful puzzle for Veterans Day programs at a senior center, a veterans home or a family table. All six branches are here, the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Space Force, along with the flag, a salute, the parade and the freedom they served to protect. Veterans and their grandchildren can easily share one copy.

Did you know?
- Veterans Day began as Armistice Day, marking the end of the fighting in World War I at 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918.
- Congress renamed the holiday Veterans Day in 1954, to honor the veterans of every war.
- Veterans Day thanks everyone who served; Memorial Day, in May, remembers those who died in service.
Talk about it
- Who in your family served in the military, and in which branch?
- Do you remember a Veterans Day parade in your town?
- Did you ever write letters to someone serving far from home?
- What does a flag flying outside a house mean to you?
- How did your town welcome people home from service?
Activity tip: Ask the veterans in your group, if they are comfortable, to share their branch and years of service. After the puzzle, make simple “Thank you for your service” cards together.
