About this puzzle

Big, bold letters and fewer, longer words: an easier-on-the-eyes parables of jesus word search. The sower and the seed, the lost sheep, the prodigal son and the good Samaritan. This word search gathers the people and things from the parables Jesus told, so each found word can start a short retelling. Good for Bible study and older Sunday school classes.

The large print edition uses an 11×11 grid that fills a letter-size page, and words only run across, down or diagonally down.

All 20 words in this theme: Sower, Seed, Mustard, Leaven, Pearl, Treasure, Lost Sheep, Coin, Prodigal, Samaritan, Talents, Vineyard, Wheat, Tares, Lamps, Oil, Fig Tree, Rock, Sand, Shepherd.

Talk about it

Questions to share while solving, for activity groups, memory care or a visit with family:

  • Which parable did you hear most often in church as a child?
  • Have you ever lost something precious and searched until you found it?
  • Who has been a good Samaritan to you?
  • Do you grow anything from seed? What grows best for you?
  • Which parable do you think is the hardest to live by?

Activity tip: Ask each solver to choose one found word and retell its parable in a few sentences. Others can guess the parable before the word is named.

Questions

How big are the letters?

The grid fills most of a letter-size page, with letters about one and a half times the size of a regular (Medium) word search, and the word list is printed in large type too.

Are these suitable for memory care or activity groups?

Yes. Words only run left to right, top to bottom or diagonally down, so the puzzles are relaxing rather than tricky. Print as many copies as your group needs.

Is there a harder version?

Every theme also has a regular print edition with Easy, Medium and Hard levels.
