About this puzzle

Big, bold letters and fewer, longer words: an easier-on-the-eyes november word search. A month for being grateful. This November word search honors veterans on November 11 and gathers around the Thanksgiving table on the fourth Thursday with turkey, cornbread and pecans, followed by football and a nap. Geese fly south, the first frost arrives and sweaters come out. It is Native American Heritage Month, the birthstones are the topaz and the citrine, and the birth flower is the chrysanthemum, or mum.

The large print edition uses an 11×11 grid that fills a letter-size page, and words only run across, down or diagonally down.

All 20 words in this theme: Turkey, Feast, Thankful, Grateful, Veterans, Salute, Heroes, Geese, Frost, Pecans, Cornbread, Kickoff, Sweaters, Blankets, Naptime, Migration, Topaz, Citrine, Mums, Sagittarius.

Talk about it

Questions to share while solving, for activity groups, memory care or a visit with family:

  • Did someone in your family serve in the military? Where?
  • Who hosted Thanksgiving dinner, and what did you bring?
  • What are you most thankful for this year?
  • Did you watch a football game on Thanksgiving Day?
  • Did you ever see geese flying south in a big V?

Activity tip: Around Veterans Day, invite residents who served to share where they were stationed, then end with a thankful round: each person names one thing they are grateful for.

Questions

How big are the letters?

The grid fills most of a letter-size page, with letters about one and a half times the size of a regular (Medium) word search, and the word list is printed in large type too.

Are these suitable for memory care or activity groups?

Yes. Words only run left to right, top to bottom or diagonally down, so the puzzles are relaxing rather than tricky. Print as many copies as your group needs.

Is there a harder version?

Every theme also has a regular print edition with Easy, Medium and Hard levels.
