About this puzzle

Big, bold letters and fewer, longer words: an easier-on-the-eyes march word search. In like a lion, out like a lamb. March brings windy kite days, St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th with shamrocks and leprechauns, daylight saving time on the second Sunday and the first day of spring around the 20th. It is Women’s History Month, the birthstone is the aquamarine, the birth flower is the cheerful daffodil and the robins come back.

The large print edition uses an 11×11 grid that fills a letter-size page, and words only run across, down or diagonally down.

All 20 words in this theme: Shamrock, Leprechaun, Rainbow, Kite, Lion, Lamb, Daffodil, Spring, Robin, Clover, Green, Puddles, Aquamarine, Aries, Equinox, Daylight, Reading, Windy, Sprout, Gold.

Talk about it

Questions to share while solving, for activity groups, memory care or a visit with family:

  • Did March come in like a lion or a lamb where you grew up?
  • Did you ever fly a kite? Where did you take it?
  • Did your family wear green on St. Patrick’s Day?
  • What is the first sign of spring you notice every year?
  • Did anyone ever find a four-leaf clover in your family?

Activity tip: Bring a pot of daffodils or a few clover leaves to the table, and award a small gold-wrapped chocolate to each person who finds a green word like SHAMROCK or CLOVER.

Questions

How big are the letters?

The grid fills most of a letter-size page, with letters about one and a half times the size of a regular (Medium) word search, and the word list is printed in large type too.

Are these suitable for memory care or activity groups?

Yes. Words only run left to right, top to bottom or diagonally down, so the puzzles are relaxing rather than tricky. Print as many copies as your group needs.

Is there a harder version?

Every theme also has a regular print edition with Easy, Medium and Hard levels.
