A good first logic puzzle
With only three people and three choices in each category, an easy grid has nine squares per block, so the whole puzzle stays on one glance. Most clues say who does not go with what, which is exactly how real logic puzzles work: you rarely get the answer straight away, you find it by ruling the others out.
Children from about eight can solve these with a little help, and they make a calm classroom warm-up. When the easy puzzles feel quick, move on to the medium logic puzzles with four people.
Tips for kids and beginners
- Read every clue once before marking anything.
- Start with clues that name a person: they go straight into the top rows.
- When a row has two X marks, the third square must be the dot.
- Check each finished row against all the clues before you look at the answer key.
