What makes these crosswords easier to read and solve

  • Big squares. Between .61 and .73 inches on paper, far roomier than a typical newspaper crossword.
  • Large clues. Every clue is printed at 18 point in a plain, high-contrast font, and shows the number of letters.
  • Plain definitions. No puns, no obscure words: “Big bird roasted for the holiday dinner” is TURKEY.
  • Puzzle book layout. Grid on page one, clues on page two. Print both and lay them side by side, so nothing is squeezed.
  • Word bank option. A second PDF lists every answer, which turns the puzzle into a matching game for memory care groups.

For activity directors and families

Each puzzle page includes conversation questions and an activity idea tied to its theme, so a ten-minute crossword can turn into an hour of shared stories. The puzzles are free to print for care homes, senior centers, libraries and church groups.

Questions

Are these crosswords really easy?

Yes. Every answer is a common word and every clue is a direct definition, so most solvers finish in 10 to 20 minutes. The word bank version is easier still.

Will they print well on a home printer?

Yes. They are sized for US Letter paper with thick black lines and no background color, so they print clearly in black and white.

Where are the answers?

Every PDF has the filled-in answer key on page three. On screen, tick “Show answer key” or press “Check my answers”.
