Coloring snow, ice and winter light
- Snow is not only white: shade the shadow side of each snowdrift with pale blue or lavender and leave the top white; it looks instantly deeper.
- Evening glow: color windows and lanterns yellow and orange, then the sky dark blue, and the whole scene feels warm against the cold.
- Frozen water: for the creek and the river, use two or three light blues with a few white streaks left uncolored.
- Evergreens: mix a dark green with a little blue for pine trees, and keep their snowy tops white.
For winter afternoons, groups and seniors
These pages have no holiday words, so they work from December to March at home, in libraries and at senior centers. The easy pages have thick lines and roomy spaces for markers; the detailed landscapes are made for colored pencils and fine pens and can take an hour or more. A covered bridge, a sleigh or a village church often brings back memories worth talking about while you color. Looking for snowmen? See our snowman coloring pages.

Questions
Are these winter coloring pages free?
Yes. All 12 pages and the full PDF pack are free to print or color online, with no sign-up.
Which winter pages are best for beginners?
The ice skates, the cabin, the cardinal, the hot cocoa, the hat with mittens and the lantern. They have clear outlines and bigger spaces.
Why are some pages turned sideways in the PDF?
The wide landscapes are printed across the long side of the paper so they come out as big as possible. Turn the sheet sideways to color.
